2013 Interfaith Prayer Service

The Lackawanna Bar Association marked the National Day of Prayer recently with sacred words and civic scripture.  The annual Interfaith Prayer Service at the Scranton cultural Center included readings from Jewish, Christian and Islamic holy texts as well as the words of Abraham Lincoln, whose Gettysburg Address and Emancipation Proclamation were delivered 150 years ago.

2013 Mock Trials

Abington Heights wins District Mock Trial Competition

The Young Lawyers Division of the Lackawanna Bar Association proudly sponsors the local District Competition for District 3 of Region 5 of the Statewide High School Mock Trial Competition. Jennifer Menichini served as Coordinator for the Mock Trials this year, with Teddy Michel and Kim Moraski serving as Co-Coordinators.

Abington Heights, Carbondale Area, Dunmore, Holy Cross, Honesdale, Lackawanna Trail, Lakeland, Mid Valley, North Pocono, Scranton, Scranton Prep, Valley View, West Scranton and Western Wayne all participated in the local competition, which includes Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties.

2013 Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, January 10, 2013.  The evening started with a Free 1 hour Ethics course followed by cocktails and a dinner program.   William J. Hall, Jr. was sworn in as the new President.  Congratulations to the newly elected members of the Board of Directors of the LBA:  Vice President - Matthew P. Barrett, Esq., Exeuctive Committee - J. Timothy Hinton, Jr., Esq. and Senior Director - Kurt T. Lynott, Esq.    The Young Lawyers Division incoming President, Chip Abrahamsen was also sworn in for his term.  The following new Board members were elected:  Jason Asbell, Esq., Craig A. Hoenie, Esq., Kimberly K. Moraski, Esq., Michael J. O'Brien, Esq., William D. Thomson, Esq. and Dana M.

2012 Legal Legends

The 2012 Legal Legends, Hon. Thomas M. Blewitt, Brigid E. Carey, Esq., Hon. Edwin M. Kosik and Joseph A. Murphy, Esq. presented  to a crowd of nearly 100 members on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Colonnade.  The afternoon was informative, interesting an entertaining.  We thank our participants and congratulate them on their outstanding careers.
