Lackawanna Bar Association

The Lackawanna Bar Foundation

In an effort to support the charitable efforts of the more than 600 member attorneys, the Lackawanna Bar Association has established a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Lackawanna Bar Foundation.  The mission of the Lackawanna Bar Foundation is to promote access to justice and to strive to enhance community understanding of the legal system through education and law related projects in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

On April 21, 2010, the Lackawanna Bar Foundation sponsored the reenactment of the play “The Case of Tommy Smith vs. Jimmy Hall” developed by Bob Shlesinger in an effort to educate area students on the consequences of bullying and to enhance their understanding of the legal system.  Over 200 area students will attend the play.  The timeliness of the topic and the incorporation of the legal system made this an ideal project to fulfill the foundation’s mission of public service.
